adjustments

Hunter is now 11 weeks old and I have been back in the studio for 5 weeks. You would think that in 5 weeks I would have gotten back on the horse.. but not so much. I have made 15 cups and a bunch of test tiles. I only get 30 minutes at a time and somedays don't get anytime at all.

Our nap schedule is erratic and I'm on the worlds shortest leash. He doesn't seem to sleep more than 30 minutes at a time if I'm not in the room. If i'm next to him he will snooze for 2hrs at a time. Now I just need to figure out how to get him to nap next to the wheel ;)

because of my new time restraints I have found it really difficult to work with porcelain. I was rocking the Highwater helios at cone 9 before pregnancy. Now that doesn't seem to be the best option. I'd like to find a cone 6 body/glazes.

I got a few different samples and am working on test tiles and new glazes. I'll let you know how this goes next year when I finally get to finish something. (Hopefully Hunter will start to nap without me soon) So I have some highwater ellen buff, brownstone, speckled brownstone little loafers and standards dark brown (266) porcelain (213)

little loafers and 213 dry way to quickly for my new way of life and i'm not that attentive anymore to ways of covering up and controlling the dry time.

I love the way the 266 feels/thros, I hope I can get some good results with it.

So I'm still adjusting to new life and trying to figure it all out. Hunter is adjusting well, he is trying to find his thumb and gets pissed when he loses it. Otherwise I couldn't have asked for a happier baby.

no babies or balls were hurt during this picure

I'm in love

Hunter turned 4 weeks old yesterday and it has been an amazing ride. Exhausting but pretty darn awesome. He makes this amazing pirate face all of the time.

but most of the time he looks like this

4 weeks postpartum I get to start throwing again and since we just moved and I need to set up my studio I've decided to take a throwing class at Atlantic Pottery Supply. I hope I don't freak out leaving Hunter at home with his daddy. lol. 2hrs a week of being outside the house should be a good thing.. right?

28 weeks

It's been a few months since my last post. (16 weeks to be exact)

I haven't touched clay in 7 months and have been getting the itch, but now that the morning sickness is over, my belly gets in the way. Guess i'll have to wait a little longer.

but here are some 28 week pictures of what I have been making.

new sonogram. (turning into a baby blog?)

Had he first trimester check up. The fetus has all of its parts! Legs, arms, spine, beautiful beating heart, nasal bone, bladder, stomach, and so forth. Everything measured well too. What a relief. I've been having dreams that the baby has multiple legs/arms and is actually a squid. When the squid arrives it attacks Jake and kills him. Weird? So it was a relief to see a baby with all the correct parts.

I've still been sick and unable to keep any food/liquid down for long. That should change tomorrow since i'm giving in and getting anti nausea drugs. I'm looking forward to eating a meal and only tasting it once. The heat/humidity in northern florida has been killing me. Note to self: if i'm ever nuts enough to do this again, plan around the summer.

anyway here are some new pictures!

not yay

I'm supposed to be hanging out with other potters at penland, but instead on my my couch with a bowl of ice cream.

Packed my bags/cars up left the house at 7am... by 10:30 I had turned the car around and headed back home. Just couldn't do it. Vomiting and driving not so safe and then i started to feel guilty about dorm mates/workshop mates having to deal with my constant bathroom trips. Just bad timing i suppose and it as a reality check on baby first, everything else second.

new post

Almost time for penland!

I leave on Sunday for 2 weeks and thankfully I'm feeling much better. The fetus is 11 weeks and less susceptible to external toxins since all of it's organs are developed.

I haven't touched clay in 2 months, which feels extremely strange but I'm excited to get out of the humidity and make some work again.

:)

there's the fetus.

We misjudged the dates a little bit, so this is really early still. (7.5 weeks) and I know people don't start blabbing about the baby until 12 weeks, but what can I say we jumped the gun and thought the baby was almost 12 weeks 2 weeks ago. So crossing our fingers that all continues to go well. The doc said everything looked great with a strong heartbeat and all.
